Senior Full Stack Engineer

Location: Vauxhall, London (Hybrid – 3 days in the office, 2 days remote)

Our client, In the RetailTech space, is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join their Ops Tech team. This team plays a crucial role in optimizing operational workflows, ensuring seamless coordination between suppliers, distribution centers, storage facilities, and end-users.

Unlike typical backend roles, where engineers rarely witness the real-world impact of their work, this position offers a hands-on approach. You'll have the opportunity to visit operational sites, seeing first hand how your contributions improve productivity, accuracy, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with designers and product managers to develop the next generation of internal operational tools.
  • Work closely with internal and external teams that utilize or generate critical operational data.
  • Develop a deep understanding of distribution center, store, and supplier operations.
  • Enhance code quality and ensure high standards for production deployments.
  • Support team growth and foster a collaborative engineering culture.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and optimize system performance.
  • Represent engineering in quarterly and annual planning discussions.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in front-end and back-end development.
  • Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of web applications through rigorous testing and optimization.

Ideal Candidate:

  • 5+ years of experience with Node.js on the backend.
  • 3+ years of experience with React on the frontend.
  • Strong understanding of database architecture and data design.
  • Experience working with SQL & NoSQL databases.
  • Proficiency in AWS or GCP for DevOps and cloud-based infrastructure.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with serverless architectures.
  • Working knowledge of event-driven systems.
  • Experience building dashboards and cloud infrastructure tooling.
  • Hands-on GCP experience.
