Troi Search are delighted to be working exclusively with this delightful client in the Consumer Electronics space. We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to run their 'Player Experience' team. The Player Experience team is comprised of Embedded Software Engineers, Platform/Cloud Engineers, a Product Manager and a Designer. The team ensures the product (over 1 million devices in the field) is working as seamlessly as possible.
The client have built a screen-free interactive audio platform for kids. They’re on a mission to be the soundtrack of childhood, and help families on their own unique adventures. By creating products that inspire independent play.
The Role
- You'll oversee major technical projects, ensuring timely delivery while managing resources and stakeholder expectations.
- You'll work closely with teams across product, design, and operations to ensure seamless collaboration and execution.
- You'll make key technical decisions to enhance system scalability, reliability, and performance, aligning with the company’s growth plans.
- You will promote engineering best practices and establish mechanisms for continuous improvement, quality tracking, and reporting.
- Beyond strategy, you’ll participate in technical reviews and provide hands-on guidance when needed. Your leadership will be essential in driving operational excellence, refining incident management processes, and maintaining strong uptime monitoring.
- You’ll play a crucial role in hiring and onboarding top engineering talent, fostering professional development through mentorship, performance evaluations, and constructive feedback.
What You’ll Bring:
- Experience in embedded systems engineering.
- At least 3 years of leadership or management experience in a distributed team setting.
- Expertise in embedded software architecture, including working with multiple chipsets, MCUs, SoCs, and multi-CPU systems.
- A proven track record of managing large-scale technical initiatives, creating strategic roadmaps, and ensuring alignment across multiple teams.
- Ability to inspire, mentor, and develop engineering teams in fast-growing environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience facilitating remote and asynchronous collaboration across different time zones.
- Adaptability to a fast-changing environment, with a proactive approach to solving complex technical and operational challenges.
- Experience implementing operational best practices, such as monitoring, alerting, and incident management.
Key role details:
- Salary range from £95,000 - £115,000
