The Challenge

BT Sourced, the innovative procurement arm of BT Group, have been building a world class procurement function in the heart of Dublin since 2021. They have invested heavily in their Cyber Security function and with that, they wanted to bring a specialist Cyber Security procurement professional in-house to handle these large contracts. However, with the candidate pool in Dublin being particularly small for procurement professionals, coupled with Cyber Security still being relatively niche, this role required a specialist of the local Cyber Security market in Dublin who already had access to and knowledge of the Cyber Sec Dublin market.

the solution

We worked with the hiring manager to understand exactly what it is they needed and the scale of their Cyber Security function, and to identify the companies with a strong Cyber Security function who they would like us to headhunt from. Whilst the usual tools like adverts and LinkedIn Recruiter were used, this role required phone-based headhunting to really engage the right talent and sell the opportunity.

The results

Within 7 days of taking the initial briefing with the hiring manager, the successful candidate had been identified and submitted. With it being mid-holiday season, the interview process took longer than usual but all parties were kept informed and engaged at all stages, ultimately resulting in a specialist Cyber Security Procurement Manager joining BT Sourced. Our hire has been described as the “right hand man I was missing” by the head of practice - a very important hire for their growth plans.
